Plans for District 2

I wish to address key quality of life issues affecting our residents. I will work to improve sewer, water, trash pickup and electrical infrastructure. I intend to partner with the Sheriff's office to prevent crime from encroaching into our area. We can reduce wasteful spending and increase operational transparency, maintaining a productive dialogue with the District 2 constituency. I will also push for coastal restoration and resource preservation projects.

I will promote Plaquemines Parish as business friendly to boost our economy.

Re-Imagine the
F. Edward Hebert Corridor

This could become the main family-focused hub for our parish situated in District 2. We need to re-engage the plan for the traffic circle at the intersection of Woodland Highway to alleviate the traffic congestion and make the intersection safe. This should be starting point for re-imagining this corridor.

The vision Is community focused and offers something for all ages; track and field, cross country, football, baseball, soccer, basketball and tennis courts for our youth. Walking tracks, nature trails, pickle ball, art events and concerts at the outdoor pavilion for those who do not participate in those sports. We could tie neighborhoods to the corridor with lighted asphalt pathways on existing public servitudes.

The F. Edward Hebert corridor can serve as a wonderful green space for our community. Given the proper improvements, we could host revenue generators such as sporting events, concerts, art events, and other events that could be re-invested in the corridor to continue to make improvements. We will also seek out grant opportunities to accomplish this vision.

Quality of Life

If elected, I intend to focus on four main items: trash pickup, infrastructure, drainage, and public safety. I will work with the administration to ensure that our infrastructure is properly maintained and that our parish employees have the proper tools, equipment and manpower to meet those requirements and to make improvements upon those systems. Regarding drainage; I will also work with the state to ensure that they are fulfilling their obligation to maintain the ditches along state highways throughout our parish. I will fully support Sheriff Turlich and his police force as they work tirelessly to prevent the encroachment of crime in our area. His team is dedicated to the safety of our community and I am committed to supporting his efforts.

I will be present at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to lend assistance in the event of a storm or natural disaster. I have over 30-years of hurricane response experience as well as experience working directly with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and will be proactive in supporting District 2. My many years of heavy construction and project management experience will not only be helpful during emergency events but in making sound decisions with respect to development and growth in District 2.

Peter's Road Bypass

The new Belle Chasse bridge is currently being constructed to replace the obsolete tunnel and draw-bridge. Although we will have a new bridge, it does not change the fact that we will still have heavy industrial traffic, including hazardous cargos, going through the heart of Belle Chasse where we live, shop, worship and attend school. I will work with the administration, our representation in Baton Rouge and Jefferson Parish officials to push for construction of this project to re-direct this traffic away from our quaint community and preserve our quality of life. We need to push for a portion of the $82 million dollars awarded in addition to the infrastructure funding Louisiana received.
